Mr. Chima Aghanya’s Love in Pandemonium follows the journey of several characters as they face their uncertain futures. In high school, Meskapon had a crush on Amaka. He makes a deal with Nnamdi to get close to Amaka and help him get a date. Nnamdi agrees to a price, and Meskapon agrees. Nnamdi uses Nkechi and Njideka to help him get close to Amaka. Their interactions make Nnamdi decide to keep Amaka to himself instead of helping Meskapon. Meanwhile, Meskapon struggles with learning that his mother was severely injured in a car wreck. His father’s past treatment of his mother makes him resent his father’s attempts to speak to him. Nkechi, jealous of Amaka’s popularity, falls for a producer’s offer of free studio time to record her songs. However, she learns there is a price for her decision to trust a stranger. The parents, school staff, and nation’s leaders influence the lives of the students. Mr. Chima Aghanya involves many protagonists whose paths intersect.

The character development is vivid and displays the inner thoughts of each character. For example, Nnamdi exhibits confidence and street hustle ability which he uses for money and supplemental provisions in school. His father never visits him, but attending PTA meetings for free refreshments makes him appear less privileged. The plot is unpredictable and intriguing. The adults who influence the students add depth and understanding of their motivations as they mature into adults. A consistent theme of how people view others is reinforced in each person. There are some surprising endings for each student in the book. Love in Pandemonium will appeal to readers who enjoy realistic characters with their failures and successes in life choices.”
